Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs

About me

I currently work in the IP/Optical Networks (ION) division of Nokia. This department used to be part of Alcatel-Lucent which was acquired by Nokia in 2016. I'm developing, together with a group of colleagues, a Virtualized Service Router (VSR), Nokia's first service router which has both the control plane and data plane implemented in x86 software. Such an architecture enables much greater flexibility, and is some cases also better cost efficiency, compared to traditional routers based on custom-built hardware. I also help with the maintenance of SR-OS (a.k.a. TiMOS or Panos), the operating system that runs on most routers made by Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia. Previously I worked at Bell Labs, the research department of Alcatel-Lucent (now Nokia), where I developed an operating system prototype tailored for multi-core and real-time computing, called Osprey. I also used to do research in the areas of distributed systems, wireless networks, peer-to-peer overlays, gossip protocols, and self-organizing systems. In 2009 and 2010 I was a postdoc in the Computer Systems group at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. I received a Ph.D. degree in computer science in 2008 from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, and I received an M.Sc. degree in computer science in 2004 through a joint master's program by University of Warsaw and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
