Alcatel-Lucent Bell Labs

About me

I'm currently building, together with a handful of colleagues at Alcatel-Lucent, a Virtual Service Router (VSR), an IP edge router where both the control plane and data plane are implemented entirely in x86 software. I also help with the development and maintenance of the SR-OS (a.k.a. TiMOS or Panos), the operating system that runs on most routers made by Alcatel-Lucent. I had previously worked at Bell Labs, the research department of Alcatel-Lucent, where I developed an operating system prototype tailored for multi-core and real-time computing, called Osprey. I also used to do research in the areas of distributed systems, wireless networks, peer-to-peer overlays, gossip protocols, and self-organizing systems. In 2009 and 2010 I was a postdoc in the Computer Systems group at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. In 2008 I received a Ph.D. degree in computer science from Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. In 2004 I received an M.Sc. degree in computer science from both University of Warsaw and Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.

These are my favorite publications. A complete list is available here.

My modest contribution to the research community:

I used to work as a teaching assistant at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and Trinity College Dublin. I taught courses on computer architectures, operating systems, programming, and software engineering. I also supervised master students:

A few organizations I have been involved with:

  • Camara - Camara uses technology to improve education and livelihood skills in disadvantaged communities around the world
  • Boast Busters, Amstelpark, DUSRC - Squash clubs
  • DUSAC - Dublin University Sub-Aqua Club
  • WOPR - Polish Life Saving Federation
  • PZZ - Polish Yachting Association

And here are my favorite pictures from a trip to Peru and Bolivia in 2004.
